Artist's Palette (Chapman, 2000) TB

Artist's Palette is a dramatic tall bearded iris introduced by Chuck Chapman in 2000, growing to about 38 inches tall and blooming mid to late season. The standards are a rich violet with a purple rim and subtle brown touches along the midrib, complemented by violet style arms. The falls display a remarkable blend of colors, beginning with warm butterscotch tones edged lighter with a thin chocolate band. Brown shoulders with white haft markings frame a wide feathered violet band that spreads from the beard toward the edge of the fall. Subtle olive highlights transition to yellow near the outer edge, adding even more complexity to the bloom. The butterscotch beard ties the palette together beautifully, and the flowers are well ruffled with light lacing, giving the iris both texture and movement in the garden.
