Bottle Rocket (Michael Sutton, 2009), Seedling U-524-A, is a tall bearded iris growing to approximately 35 inches, blooming early midseason with reliable rebloom. Standards are orange buff flushed pink along the midribs with buff orange style arms, while the falls are a rich ruby red veined in orange with lighter veining surrounding carrot-colored beards and finished with a distinct greyed-orange quarter-inch rim; the fragrance is slight and musky. Bred from S-702-A [('Connie Sue' × 'Let's Boogie')] × R-687-A [('Return Address' × 'Tropical Delight')] and introduced by Sutton in 2010, it earned Honorable Mention in 2012, Favorite Guest in 2013, Award of Merit in 2014, Wister Medal in 2018, and the prestigious Dykes Medal in 2019.
