Duce (Burseen, 2009) TB

Duce is a bold tall bearded iris introduced by Tom Burseen in 2009, growing about 35 inches tall and blooming early to midseason. The standards are rich violet, while the falls deepen to a dark plum purple with slightly lighter edges that give the flower depth and richness. A striking carrot-orange beard runs boldly down the falls, notably thick and shaggy, creating dramatic contrast against the dark velvety petals. The blooms are ruffled and flared with strong substance, and carry a light spicy fragrance. Bred from Stud Book Stuffer crossed with a complex Burseen seedling line, Deuce stands out in the garden for its saturated purple coloring and vivid beard.
