Gay Border (DeForest, 1948) TB HM

Gay Border is a tall bearded iris introduced by Fred DeForest in 1948, growing about 38 inches tall and blooming midseason. The standards are soft rose pink with warm undertones, while the falls are creamy white with a distinctive rose-pink stitched border and fine veining near the haft. Golden yellow beards sit above the pale falls, adding a warm glow at the center of the bloom. Bred from Tiffanja crossed with a sister seedling of Patrice, this elegant historic iris is known for its refined color contrast and graceful form. Gay Border received the Honorable Mention in 1949 and remains a beautiful example of early postwar iris breeding.
