Grateful Red (Schreiner, 2011) is a tall bearded iris growing to approximately 36 inches, blooming early to midseason. Standards, style arms, and falls are a rich, saturated red (RHS 60A), creating a bold, uniform presentation. Beards are yellow with red at the end, adding subtle contrast against the deep red petals. This variety is the result of complex parentage involving Clearfire × Unforgettable Fire and Saturday Night Live crossed with Rip City, and was introduced by Schreiner in 2011. Grateful Red earned Honorable Mention in 2014 and the Award of Merit in 2018 for its strong garden performance and striking coloration.
