Gypsy Romance (Schreiner 1994) TB HM AM WM

Gypsy Romance was introduced by Schreiner in 1994 and grows to about 37 inches tall, blooming in late midseason with a light fragrance. The flowers are a rich violet raspberry with heavily ruffled petals, the hafts lightly washed with bronze and blue purple beards providing contrast. This tall bearded iris is notable for its strong color and elegant form and earned the Honorable Mention in 1996, Award of Merit in 1998, and the Wister Medal in 2002. It was bred from (‘Louisiana Lace’ x ‘Entourage’) crossed with a complex seedling line involving ‘Fabulous Frills’ and ‘Starcrest’.
