Luminate (Sutton 2018) TB HM AM
Luminate was introduced by Michael Sutton in 2018 and grows to about 37 inches tall, blooming from early to midseason with a slight sweet fragrance. This iris is a true luminata, showing the classic pattern where color is concentrated along the veins and edges while the centers remain lighter. The standards are violet with pale greyed orange veining and edging, and the style arms are pale greyed orange. The falls are dark violet with a white throat and pale empire yellow veining and edge, accented by lemon yellow beards. Flowers are ruffled and well formed. It was bred from ‘Duplication’ crossed with a seedling from (‘Shine On Thru’ x (‘Double Click’ x ‘Straight Up’)). This variety received the Honorable Mention in 2021 and the Award of Merit in 2023.
