Matt McNames (Meek 2000) TB HM AM

Matt McNames was introduced by Duane Meek in 2000 and grows to about 36 inches tall, blooming in midseason. The standards are deep purple while the falls are nearly black, creating a dramatic dark contrast, with purple beards completing the bloom. The flowers have a bold, rich coloration typical of dark iris breeding lines. The plants typically produce 3 to 4 branches with about 7 to 9 buds and was named for a very special friend. This variety was bred from a cross of ‘Tempting Fate’ and ‘Blackout’ and received the Honorable Mention in 2002 and the Award of Merit in 2006.
