Montmartre (Keppel 2007) TB HM AM WM DM

Montmartre was introduced by Keith Keppel in 2007 and grows to about 33 inches tall, blooming from early to midseason. This iris is a striking luminata, showing the distinctive pattern where color concentrates along the veins and edges while the centers remain lighter. The standards are a smoky red purple with a straw yellow edge. The falls are deep velvety red purple with a narrow pale edge and a bright lemon yellow glow around the beard area, creating the luminous effect typical of luminata irises. Chrome yellow beards add contrast against the darker falls. Flowers are well ruffled and richly colored. It was bred from a seedling related to ‘Moonlit Water’ crossed with ‘New Leaf’, then crossed with ‘High Master’. This variety received the Honorable Mention in 2010, Award of Merit in 2012, the Wister Medal in 2014, and the American Dykes Medal in 2017.
