Night Whispers is a tall bearded iris introduced by Thomas Johnson in 2020, growing about 34 inches tall and blooming in the midseason garden. The standards and style arms are a rich medium wine red, while the falls deepen to a dramatic black cherry tone that gives the bloom strong contrast and depth. Smoldering saturated orange beards provide a striking focal point against the dark petals. The flowers carry a sweet fragrance and have excellent substance on sturdy stems. Bred from a sibling of Heat Of The Moment, Night Whispers represents Johnson’s modern work with rich red and dark tones. It received the Honorable Mention in 2022.
