Riveting (Black, 2009) SDB HM AM FG

Riveting is a standard dwarf bearded iris introduced by Paul Black in 2009, blooming late midseason at about 15 inches. Crisp white standards rise above dramatic white falls boldly splashed with a dark inky blue-purple blend covering most of the petal, accented by short white darts along the beard line and a subtle grey-olive heart at the hafts. Light yellow beards tipped in white add contrast, while ruffled form and a pronounced spicy fragrance give this compact iris remarkable presence. Bred from Ajax the Less × Big Blue Eyes, it earned Honorable Mention in 2011, Award of Merit in 2013, and was named Favorite Guest in 2014.
