True Patriot (Mego, 2016) is a tall bearded iris growing to approximately 37 inches, blooming midseason. Standards and style arms are ice white, creating strong contrast with the falls, which are French blue with darker veining and deeper blue shoulders. Beards are carrot orange. The blooms are ruffled with serrated edges and carry a slight spicy fragrance. True Patriot is the result of complex parentage involving Acoma, Twilight Blaze, Conjuration, and Gypsy Lord, and was introduced by Anton Mego in 2017. It earned Honorable Mention in 2021 and Award of Merit in 2024.
